Forum Rules

Postby Quaon » Fri Mar 21, 2008 2:32 am

These are the newly established rules for the Xatrix forum. Abide by them and live long, disobey them, and you will feel the wrath of Phiber.

1. No Spam. We do not tolerate spam at Xatrix. Please see below for updated rules and definitions.

2. No Insults. Don't insult another forum user. Simple as that.

3. Respect. Respect other forum users views. Don't bash it because you don't like it.

4. Respect Moderators. Same as above but respect the moderators decisions. And also keep in mind that the moderators arent necessarily under the same restrictions are regular users. Our actions will be subject to Phiber, and Phiber alone.

5. No threadjacking. If you have a topic which is not related to the current post ("Oh, just while I'm here..."), then make a new thread for it. Or expect death. Quickly.

6. Other forums may not be advertised. Links to specific topics, tutorials, and subjects which aren't on Xatrix, or on the Xatrix forum, may not be advertised. Sites which are the authority on a topic, or that answer a question, are allowed to be linked to however.

7. Know what is acceptable. Unless you are a moderator or administrator, you do not have the right to tell someone they can or cannot do something. Unless specifically stated in these rules, do not presume something someone has said or done is not allowed. If you have specific concerns, contact the Relations Officer (Quaon).

8. Smiley limit. Unless otherwise allowed, each user is allowed no more than four smiles per post, as anymore will look unprofessional.

9. Tolerance. We here at Xatrix will not allow any slandering of another person for their religious views/race/gender. Any intolerance will be met with an immediate ban.

10. Names. Even if you know someones real name, you cannot call them by it unless giving explicit permission to do so by that person. Also, the names of the moderators are off limits to anyone not a moderator themselves, period.

11. Cursing. We do not have a set rating on language for this topic (such as pg, pg13, R). Instead, we go by a common sense policy. We allow cursing only if it is to quote, or make a point. Never to insult. However we are a zero-tolerance site for porn or adult material.

12. Personal Links. If you are a new person on the forum, (e.g. 0 posts) and your first post is a personal link, it will be treated as spam. For users with less than 50 posts, we do not allow personal links, so as to avoid spammers. This includes links in your signature. If you have more than 50 posts, you are allowed to put personal links in your sig.

Note: The Xatrix staff reserves the right to edit/change these rules at any time and without notice.
Note: Any problems not addressed in these rules, or if someone is causing trouble, contact me.

Re: NEW RULES REGARDING SPAM

Postby jd2kuk » Fri May 15, 2009 11:14 pm

We have a zero-tolerance policy at Xatrix regarding spam. It sucks, and ruins the experience on the forum for everyone else. Do it, and you will feel our wrath.

-Definition of spam-

Any topics which are: completely worthless; advertise your products, services, or generally solicit business through the website are posts of SPAM. These posts are strictly PROHIBITED, and will be deleted or edited (as appropriate) by the moderation team without prior warning.

-Consequences of spam for new users-

If your first post after registering with the forum consists of SPAM, your post will be deleted without warning, and you will receive a PERMANENT BAN from the forum (for more info on what this means, see below). There will be no exceptions to this rule.

If, after registering, we have any reason to believe that an account will be used to post, or otherwise promote spam, said account will be PERMENANTLY BANNED immediately. This rule is enforced entirely at our discretion.
If you feel you have been banned erroneously under this rule, please do get in touch, and we will un-ban your account with utmost of brevity and apology.

-Consequences for not so new users-

If, as a member of the forum with a post count of more than one, you post spam, you will receive an OFFICIAL WARNING. Post spam again and you will be BANNED.

If you have reason to believe that your account has been hijacked for the purpose of posting spam, and is no longer under your control, please contact a member of the Xatrix team IMMEDIATELY so that we can protect your account. We're certainly tolerant when this happens, and will not issue any warnings, bans or hard-feelings; please do let us know as soon as possible, though.

-Information regarding bans-

Anyone who is banned on the basis of spam will have their account, IP address, and e-mail address blocked INDEFINITELY. This applies without exception.

-Appeals/erroneous bans due to spam-

Any bans placed due to spam will be lifted if, and only if, said ban has been made in error. The decision regarding this is entirely at our discretion. If a ban was made in error, we will work as quickly as possible to unblock your account, and apologise profusely (just how profusely depends on the magnitude of our screw-up...)

If this isn't the case, we won't even consider lifting a ban on an account (no matter how reformed you may claim to be). Say goodbye to the forum: permanently.

-Summary-

o Post spam on the forum, and you will be reprimanded without warning.
o If your first post on the forum consists of spam, you will be banned without warning.
o If we have reason to believe that a new account will be used for the purpose of posting spam, said account will be banned.
o For users with more than one post, two strikes and you are banned.
o If you think your account has been hijacked, and/or is no longer under your control, please tell us immediately so that we can take action.
o Users who are banned will have their accounts, IP address and e-mail address blocked indefinitely.
o If you feel we have banned you in error, get in touch- we will put things right.
o If you feel we have banned you rightfully, and would like to be unbanned- tough.

I hope this post makes things clear. If you have any questions or queries, contact us (click 'The team' at the bottom of any forum page)- we'll happily answer.
