Easy way to access C:\ in RM

Postby kryptix » Wed Oct 31, 2007 4:24 pm

Hi all, at college ive managed to get access to the C:\ drive easily....

    Code: Select all
Go to your workspace or my docs

    Create a new shortcut

    Set the path to C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe

When you run the file it defaults into the system32 folder

I do a dir and see all the files and i can run most exe's except diskmgmt etc.

*For anyone that wants to play pinball btw - its in C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Pinball\Pinball.exe

** This is a college system but i am only a standard user and i can access the C:\ via this route...

In my school....
Cmd is blocked but i can access it using command.com.
Also it defaults to n:\ which is our my documents drive.
so in order to dir the system32 folder i must use the cd command which is guess what BLOCKED!
Shame it doesn't work in my school but all school's are differen't.
Probally works on alot tho. :P
It depends on your technician.

this is what happens on mine as well if i use the Run or if i use the command.com (Defaults to n:\), but when i created the shortcut manually, it defaulted to the system32 folder (not sure why) normally when the default n:\ appears you cant access the C:\ or anything, it just says access is denied, but it seems to work if you create the shortcut manually.

You might i can run most exe's by typing: for example

Code: Select all
cd c:\windows\system32\
start mshearts.exe

Most exe's you can start by typing start then the exe filename..

Hate to break the good spirit, but most schools will have command prompt, run and all of the games blocked by default. They're restricted by group policy objects which are enabled when the server is commissioned, unfortunately.

And for your school to not have them blocked out by every conceivable means, they are insecure. Very insecure. Lucky for you though :D

In my school run isn't disabled :)
