nowhere. They are yesterdays technology.
However they are useful for netbios networks (out of date and not used) or network broadcasts (but creates lots of overhead) as routers don't like broardcasts

not yet.
Do you know how much fibre is???
Its about £1200 just for 1 NIC card and about £2000 per meter of fibre!! The school does not have that kind of money!!
And the switches are like £10,000.

Its not really worth investing in fibre at the moment.
You will bankrupt youself!

//[it will cost my dads friend who owns computer comany £30,000 + just do one fibre cable from one end of the building to the other, 2 NIC cards and server upgrade!! But hes decided not to do it as the company is too small, as it might break it]//

better off with CAT5e or CAT6, thats pretty fast. But with CAT6 you must not bend it too much and keep it as straight as possible as you will loose data packets that way. [thats why the cables are twisted inside, to reduce interferance by having a continus line]
CAT6 is really CAT5 with more twists !
And fibre is really hard to work with. Crazy speeds. But way too expensive for any school
