OK, head on over to http://jfm.sourceforge.net/, and download the Java File Manager, I need to know whether this will let me open and view any folder on the schools servers, it doesn't open files in windows programs, it opens them in itself, so would GP still apply? I could open the N:/ drive in it, then just go up to the parent directory in order to get to the server root, then you could access any teacher folders, student folders and even admin folders which may have account lists, or even copy templates for school letters to your usb!

It might be necessary to add: I can run .jar files at my school...

It'll still run with the same rights at your account does. While it's possible that you could use it to browse the local drivers, using a different file manager isn't going to magically give you access to everything on the server.

yeah i guessed thtat much but using java files I've been able to do a heck-of-a-lot more than GP would have let me...
