Hey, I was wondering. If I put the network cable into the back of my laptop will it let me login to the school network?

Assuming that you're using Windows (or know what you're doing in Linux), then yes.

You'll need to chose your school's domain to log onto. Either that or you could just browse to a fileshare, and give your username and password. RM is just built on Active Directory, so it's fairly easy to access from your own PC..

And best thing about using your own laptop is that theres no group policies downloaded to it. so your free from the clutches of the stupid administration!

Anyway, back to the topic, if you plug the network cable into your laptop you can access all the drives as normal, creating a shortcut or mapping them.
Also, if you really wanted to, you could setup your PC as a workstation.

Install RM software on your own computer... are you insane?? Who'd want to do that?

No no, not install the RM Software, just create another Partition (so you can still use your Local Computer as your own) but make another empty XP Partition part of the Domain
