In fairness, I think we'll have banned the IP range of many of the spammers before long... :P
Some people are like Slinkies: completely useless but fun to watch when you push them down stairs.

Most spambots are running on zombie machines though, so they're in the residential IP ranges, and blocking them almost always leads to blocking real users...
