on my home laptop when i try to access the gpedit tool it says access denied - but i've created a user in each group and still no access - whats wrong

By home laptop im assuming that your family has owned that computer, and was never on the hands of any company? Or anyone else before you guys?

Something I've tried in the past is...

Go to 'regedit' right-click on each of the folders on the left hand side, select 'Permissions' and ensure that the 'Full Control' option for Administrators is checked. Do this for each folder.

By 'gpedit', do you mean gpedit.msc, the group policy editor in microsoft management console?

Best solution to all of Windows Xp's problems.

Reinstall windows. Then your Group Policy Editor will work. :mrgreen:

Simple but effective. :lol:

i already tried that - but you won't believe this - my xp pro disk doesn't owrk on my laptop - i have a S-ATA HDD - i need an xp pro disk to do a S-ATA HDD - ANY IDEAS ? ? ?
