Postby kaden361 » Mon Jul 06, 2009 10:08 pm

hello, I need help with a problem I'm having when using google.. lets say i search for
a bike. google will give me a bunch of links, ok its all good up to here. once I click on a
link instead of going to that page i will get redirected to some other website like monster,
or some other weird selling site. When I use IE i don't get this problem it takes me to the link the
the serach browser gives me. I have ran spyware and anitvirus scan and nothing, so I was wondering What
i can do to fix this problem? thnx for any help you can give me.

Even though you ran a virus check, you may want to consider that yours didn't find it. Try using Avast!, it is the best IMHO. http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

If that doesn't work, or if you simply chose to ignore my above advice (prick!) then try this:

-Restart your computer.
-Open Firefox, go to help, press on check for updates. If your problem is a virus, there is a good chance the newest, latest version of Firefox will fix it.
-Open Firefox, go to tools, and clear your internet history. (cookies, history, downloads, everything)
-If these don't work, it may be a problem with a different part of the computer. Download this: http://www.glaryutilities.com/gu.html?tag=download

The name of the program is Glary Utilities. It is a completely free, legal computer maintained program. It is pretty self explanatory with its interface, but look here if you have any questions: http://www.glaryutilities.com/gu.html?tag=download#

If it still is weirding out, be sure to tell us. There are still options for you.

I've dealt with this problem before; MalwareByte's Anti Malware scanner is very good, give it a try. HijackThis might also be useful, if you know what you're doing.

I'll try that malware program your talking about, as for hijackthis it sees and I stop it,
but more pop out later...I can stop the problem for a while but it just comes back.

ok.....after running glary utilities, malware byte, avast, Spybot s&d, hijackthis, and updating firefox, clearing my cache,
cookies, downloads, history everything! its still happening...starting to get frustrated. I might reinstall firefox see if that fixes it.

Upgrading firefox practically reinstalls it anyway, I highly doubt that would fix it. Try Google Chrome and see if it messes with that.
