You can view all the environment variables by typing "set" in the command prompt..

Interesting choice for a spambot to necropost in, considering Kaspersky's site was hacked about a week ago, and started serving up fake AV. I wonder if it looks for topics with recent headlines? It would only be saved to the local user, and might even get removed when the users logs back in from the domain - depending on the setup.

Booting into Linux will only reset the local account password - it won't touch the domain accounts, which are what you use to actually login. Unless your network is very badly set up, it won't allow local logins, so you will be unable to use this account. Also, if you're only going to be using chntp...

It'd be worth dumping the Domain Cached Credentials as well, you might get lucky and get the admin hashes in there, if not, you should at least get a couple of other student accounts to work from.
