I'm pretty sure those files are protected (for the obvious reason), so not with a normal user account.

Personally, I use Cain to crack them, but SAMInside isn't bad...

Not sure if you'll have the rights to copy them.

There's a Linux program called `strings` that pulls out ASCII strings from a file, which may have useful text. Any decent disassembly software has a similar function.

What web server are you using? You should be able to set the index page in the config somewhere. If it's hosted externally, and you don't have access to the config, ask the support people. If nothing else, you can set your 404 error page to redirect to the index page you want. If you create index.ht...

I believe the file should be called `default.aspx`, but you should be able to change that in the serverside config.

The home versions of Windows 7 do not include an RDP server. VNC is a completely different protocol to RDP; something which you clearly fail to understand. Google it.
