Change the way the tutorial section works

Postby TJ_2k7 » Wed Apr 30, 2008 4:27 pm

Why do you have to PM a mod your tutorial ?
Why dont you just use the moderation system were the person makes a thread like normal but it needs to be approved by a mod ?

Just wondered why it was so complicated ....

It is mainly so we can go over it and add things if necessary and change errors and things. It was just so it doesn't get littered with crap. I don't believe that exists by default in phpbb3 tho does it?

Moderating Threads within a certain forum does exists in phpbb3.
I have it on my own forum.
It has to been done through the Admin Control Panel though...

You just need to go to ACP>Forums>Forum Permissions>Registered Users>Submit>Tutorials>Post>Can Start Topics :P

That could cause the section to be flooded with Spam and rubbish tutorial....
There is a setting on ACP that allows all topics to be moderated and approved before being publiclly viewable....
Someone makes a thread but it is not viewable by members until a Mod or Admin approves it

Oh, didn't know that, sorry.

Go to:
ACP>Forums>Forum Permissions>Registered Users>Submit>Tutorials>Submit>(These options will be on different tabs - just can't remember which ones - but there's only 4)

Yes for:
Can start new topics
Can reply to topics

No for:
Can post without approval

N.B. ONLY SELECT THE TUTORIALS SECTION TO EDIT OR YOU'LL MUCK UP EVERYTHING!!!

Then, everyone can post and reply to topics, but the Admin and Mods have to approve them!

N.B. Make sure that in the Mod Permissions for O_Mods the "Can approve posts" option is set to yes, otherwise only Global Mods, or sometimes even just the Admins can approve the posts then!

Don't worry - your welcome! :P

But at the minute the "Can start new topics" is set to no, so if you just put "On moderation queue" we can't start topics still :P

Oh,
I thought "On Moderation Queue" overides that, but you worked for PHPBB so you going to be correct

NO NO NO

I know what you mean now, I was talking about manually changing the options, but I know what you mean now, the drop downs that are already there.
That would work. :P

Sorry
