Can't you just plug in an external monitor to pull your work off it? :P

I tried that, but I can't see the screen to install the drivers for the external screen, the whole screen has gone all funny how, I feel like hitting it with a hammer (BUT - that'll only make matters worse!)

The only thing I can think of is bring it back and ask them nicely if they could give me the HD back, I don't want to take it out myself because the seal will break and the warranty will be void, although i've had it for 1 Year 10 Months, so I don't know if the warranty is still active, and I haven't a clue where the receipt is!

Any suggestions or will I just bring it back?

You know what??
Just install it on a second machine. It eliminates all these problems, or use Virtual pc or VMware.
if you have a good network you can remote desktop into the second computer so you only need 1 secren and 1 mouse and keyboard.

No receipt = no warranty.

They'll probably have the parts in to fix it though- just expect to pay ridiculous prices.

I hate pc world, they charged £30 and took nearly and hour to test a memory stick! Then they said that it might be broken but it wasn't.
Useless.....
But really just use a second pc to run a second os, its easier

I know, that would be easier, but I don't want to bring two laptops into meetings, etc.
Anyway, I think i'll go down on Monday (if it's open - easter monday and all that) and ask them if I can swap, then I can come out with a new laptop, WOO HOO, also I got all the files off the laptop, I used the remote desktop program and put them all on my USB Pen Drive.

Well, i phoned PC World - coulnd't fimd the receipt, she gave me a new number to call, did that.
Then woman on the new number told me to do a whole load of stuff ehich I had already done (WOMEN :? )
Anyhoo, they are coming out to pick up my laptop on Monday (not today - 31st March) and try and fix it, if they can't I hope they give me a new laptop, but the one thing I am dreading is them seeing that the licence is for Windows Vista Basic and I have Windows XP Pro and Windows Server 2003 Enterprise (which I downloaded :o )

Anyhoo, hopefully it will all go well, so I am going to start and use the smilies again :D

Sorry for giving you my life story :D
