Hey aint been online in a while.
Hows everyone?
Anyways, i while back Microsoft released a beta of Windows 7. Did you guys get it? Your thoughts and opinions on it?
I used it briefly in VMware and to be honest i thought it was quite speedy considering its in a vm. Windows Vista was real slow in vm so im guessing thats an improvement. Some of the new features like areo shake seem ok but i want some real new un-seen features. Come microsoft, suprise us and get rid of that real bad black cloud over you thanks to vista.
I still think Apple is better btw, but thats another story
I'm using it as my primary OS now. It's f****ing awesome!
Microsoft have really gone to great lengths on this one to fix what they broke with vista (me thinks)- it hogs less resources, the interface is much improved, and lots of new features make it really worthwhile.
I'd highly recommend anyone to try it.
Some people are like Slinkies: completely useless but fun to watch when you push them down stairs.
I wouldn't use as my primary OS as i wouldn't what to loose my data if it had a huge bug in it.
(It's Microsoft, theres bound to be a huge mess up soon enough )
I'm going to install on to my Laptop once's it gets fixed
i got 7 in triple boot with XP and vista, and, its very good.
Steam, Team Foretress 2 and Gmod work fine. The best small thing i think is the ability to hover over windowsin the taskbar, and they appear, full size, on the desktop. Pure Genius!]
But really, give it 30GB at least. I went for 20GB and felt the pinch.
Cheesepuff: geeky and proud.
Rocking a Mac Mini: Want a MacBook Pro (2.66/4gb/Matte High-Res)!
To be honest, I don't see myself ever using Vista/7, outside of work. XP/Server03[/Server08?] should be fine for gaming, and for general use, I'm moving more and more into Linux.
I downloaded the RC 1 of Windows 7 and installed on another parition and im really suprised. It way more speedier than Windows Vista (but what isn't ). Booting up time much quicker and it just seems less slugish. Some nice new features nothing mind blowing or truely intuitive, but its a start for microsoft. Still can't beat Mac OS X though
You might want to give the new Ubuntu release (9.04) a try, it's got a nice polished UI, fast boot times, is very responsive, and is overall, a very nice OS.

Same here, I bought a new laptop a while ago running Windows Vista Basic.
The first thing I done was plugged it in, the second thing was getting an XP Disc and throwing in the laptop ASAP!
