Apple changed to intel because it was better and it had a better future.

Actually, the reason they switched to intel was because the power consumption of PowerPC chips was hideous- putting what would now be a G6 in a laptop would have just eaten the battery (whilst getting hot enough to cook on it 
). The intel chips had a much higher performance per watt rating, so they went in that direction.
