Undelete Partitions

Postby Ict Tech » Wed May 13, 2009 8:24 pm

Okay guys,

Here's something I don't know about and have never had to do before.

I have managed to install Windows XP Pro over the top of my old Windows XP Pro - DON'T ASK!

Anyway, I used DiskInternals NTFS Recovery 2.93, which of course does EVERYTHING, until you come to the point of trying to save all the deleted files, THEN, and only then, does it ask you to pay.

So, basically I need to get back some files I deleted when re-installing Windows XP.
What can I do? :P

Thanks in advance!

Pay the money :P

But seriously, I think you are just looking for a good undelete program right? if you have written over the data with the reinstall, its lost forever. But, if it hasnt been overwritten, the best thing you could use to get it back would be either:

http://tokiwa.qee.jp/EN/dr.html
or
use the undelete function in glary utilities: http://www.glaryutilities.com/

The glary utilities is pretty straightforward. The first one though is a little different. While it is an UGLY thing, it is the best I have used, because it not only finds large whole files, it also finds all the small fragments as well. It also has a beast of a file wiping tool. And in case your wondering, the wiping part of it is stronger than the recovery part.

Unfortunately Quaon this is a file undelete software.
I am looking for a Partition Recovery Software.

Something that if a Partition is accidently deleted, all the files can be recovered from it.
I have some software that can find the files, but to recover then I need to pay for it.
I would prefer not to pay for it, if I can find a free one I will use it, although I can only wait a few days and then I really need the files so I will have to pay!

Thanks :P

Getdataback for NTFS is a really good program, but it only runs from windows. Grab a copy, throw the disk in another machine, and point it at it, see what it does.

Right that didn't work either.

The program does not find my files, it finds others that I have deleted, but not the ones that I am looking for.

Here's what i've done, i've got a licenced copy of the DiskInternals Program that I used the first time, it found the files but I couldn't recover them because I didn't buy the software.
I now have a licenced copy and hopefully it will all work out! :P
