Just to let you all know, I know that you may have seen me as a big supporter of Vista in the past, but I have downgraded my computer to windows XP Media Centre Edition, I was fed up with vistas annoying features and its totally crap reliability etc.

I've actually got my laptop running pretty smoothly with vista now- acer helpfully provided all the drivers I needed on one disc, so I haven't really had any compatibility hitches whatsoever. I used to be a bit of a stereotypical vista cynic, but I have to say, I've really been swayed. The features that vista provides out of the box are quite exceptional compared to previous windows offerings, and it really helps to bring all the elements of different versions of XP (tablet edition, media center etc etc.) under one roof. When you get past the initial frustration, the management tools in vista are also pretty good, and are definitely improved in various areas.

My only personal caveat is that half of my audio plugins (VST/DX) stopped working after I installed vista, and I had a few problems with my audio interface working too. Other than that, it's a solid offering.

That's just my 2 pence anyway... ;)

HA! lucky ...... I've had services crashing, slowness and that annoying bug when zip files take for ever to uncompress. Software incompatabilities, slow, uses waaay too much resources and generrally annoying "Are you sure that you want to open this file?" ... I just had enough.. i've been trying to like it for 6 months and given up

I totally agree, there's quite a few useful tools and apps missing from vista that were available in XP!
Although I was told by my boss at RM to start recommending Windows Vista Business :?
I have to tell terible lies over the phone, i.e. Windows Vista Business is the best O/S i've ever used, i'd never go back to XP or anything else, etc.
WHAT A LIE! :P
